FOLUSA and ALTA Become ALTAFF

Citizen support for libraries received a big boost on February 1, 2009. This marks the date when Friends of Libraries U.S.A. (FOLUSA) and the Association for Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA) joined forces to become an expanded division of ALA. The new organization will be called the Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF). Read more.

Lisa Scottoline Join ALTAFF for this traditional author event featuring Scottoline (pictured left) and Kathryn Stockett. Additional authors to be announced. Babies Love Books!

In honor of the publication of its first book, Once Upon a Holiday the Moon Fell Out of the Sky, Nordstrom has donated $10,000 to support FOLUSA's Books for Babies program. In conjunction, FOLUSA has launched Babies Love Books, a website just for parents and caregivers that explores the world of reading to babies and toddlers. Click here to learn about 20 Books for Babies matching grants for $500 each to be awarded in 2008 to Friends groups, libraries, woman's clubs, and other nonprofit organizations.
